Default Star brite brings lawsuit against ValvTect

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Star brite, manufacturer of Star Tron Enzyme Fuel treatment, has filed a federal lawsuit in the Southern District of Florida against ValvTect Petroleum Products, Star brite said in a recent statement.

The suit seeks "injunctive relief and damages caused by ValvTect’s false and misleading claims against Star Tron in ValvTect’s Ethanol Gasoline Treatment advertising," according to the statement.

“We would have preferred to avoid taking this step, but we had no choice given the confusion being spread among consumers by ValvTect with these false and misleading claims," Star brite CEO Peter Dornau said. "Rather than selling their product on its own merits or customer acceptance, ValvTect attacked a few aspects of Star Tron, a fuel additive that has a very broad functionality, extremely high customer acceptance and strong brand loyalty.”

In a written response to Dornau, Jerry Nessenson, president of ValvTect, said the advertising claims in question were backed by standard petroleum industry tests conducted by an independent lab.

In turn, Nessenson accused Dornau of using a PowerPoint presentation that includes false and disparaging statements about ValvTect. Nessenson said in his letter to Dornau that he would consider legal action if Star brite continues to use the presentation.

Star Tron has posted its own independently commissioned test data online, which it says refute ValvTect's claims. To see the data, click here.
