Lower skeg repair/replacement

Does anyone have any feedback on replacement bolt on skegs? I nailed a rock over the weekend with my 40hp yamaha and took a 2" chunk out of the lower skeg. The missing chunk doesn't affect the performance of the engine at all. The prop survived(not even a knick) Any opinions on replacement skegs would be appreciated.

Here's a link to a company that sells replacement bolt on skegs.

Again, any feedback appreciated.

I've seen the skeg replacement bolt on's but never tried them.
I am missing the lower rear portion of the skeg on my baja. Looks like a shark took a blte out of it. I've run for years with out adding the bolt on simply because I didn't want to drill into the good part of the skeg.
Depending on how this discussion goes I might change my mind though.

You got out before me Brian. This weekend I hope to put in the houseboat for the season and also put in the baja for a little bit of cruising.

I'm thinking I might just leave it the way it is. It didn't affect the steering or performance of the eninge at all. Actually, I find it made the steering a little easier. I found it a bit stiff before when turning.
