RENO, Nev. – Online firm IpAuctions Inc. will auction 10 unique yacht designs created by luxury yacht designer Tom Fexas that are currently owned by his estate, the company reported in a recent release. The winning bidders will have the right to use the designer’s name in the boat as a brand.

The patented Fexas designs have never been seen before and include Outboard Profile and General Arrangement for yachts ranging in size from 65 feet to 145 feet, according to IpAuctions. Each design includes originals hand drawn by Fexas, a certificate of authenticity, artistic rendering, copyright and a one-time use licensing agreement, it reported.

Minimum bids begin at $12,500 per design and financing is available from the owner. Yacht builders are invited to bid, as are yacht owners or potential owners. Each purchase includes five hours of consultation with the Fexas design staff to finalize the hull design to meet the targeted usage requirements, IpAuctions said.

The late Tom Fexas was considered a pioneer in yachting design, according to the auction firm. The Florida resident began his business in 1966 and soon became world-renowned for his unique and somewhat “retro” motor yacht designs, it reported. He created hundreds of individual yacht designs tailored to the owners’ needs and desires. Fexas is most widely known for his creation in the 1970s of the Midnight Lace 44, an unusual, retro, luxury motor yacht design of which Fexas said, “She was fast. She was efficient, she made no wake. It was all there,” according to the auction company.
