Anti Siphon valve question

One of the engines in the houseboat will sputter and die when hooked to it's primary gas tank. If I close the valve to the primary tank and open the valve to the other engines gas tank it runs fine.
Suspicion is that the anti siphon valve is bad.

Does this sound reasonable?

How can you check or test an anti siphon valve?

Do these things simply wear out like everything else? I've been boating for years but never had to replace one.

more like corrode shut from moisture in the fuel, you should be able to gently blow thru it once removed.Per the regs, a manual shut-off device is also acceptable

The engine would not start off the 2nd tank last night. So .... now I'm thinking we might need a fuel pump on the port engine. I have a guy with a fuel pressure tester coming by saturday to verify.
I replaced the FP on the starboard engine last year. Probably time to replace the one on the port engine. It's the harder FP to get to, on the inside wall side of the engine.

Thanks for the info BT
