Marine radio problem

I have a marine radio on the house boat. Theh main unit is down at the main controls. On the fly bridge I have a mike that has all the functions for turning on the radio, changing channel etc. I can turn the radio on at one station and off at the other, whatever I do at one, it does the same on the other. Rather slick.

My problem is the Fly bridge mike & all work fine ....the main unit downstairs receives just fine but I cannot transmit from it. Just typing this I suppose it might be the downstairs mike.

Are radios like this hard to find? I really like the way the two of them work together .....much preferable to having to separate radios one up and one down.

I`m just the opposite, why put all your eggs in one basket.I had two radios ,each with its own tuned ant. Also in my other cooler was an additional flare gun, hand held vhf,4 jackets and 30ft of ski rope with lanyards to keep everyone together in case something bad happened.
