BT - Need help - No Temperature Merc 350 FI

Hey BT

Need a little guidance. The neighbor has a Rinker with a 350 Mercruiser fuel injected.

His temperature gage reads zero. The engine is getting warm, and seems about right.

It appears the sender is a two prong device in the thermostat housing.

How can I determine if there is a problem with the sender or the gage?

He may have also sucked up some sand leaving his t-stat open. I want to rule out the gage / sender first.

Thanks
Fred

I may have stated it incorrectly, it does have two wires. Can I get a resistance across the two - what should it be at 75f and at say 105f?

Ok, your link is the entire manual, that's good. I found the schematic on page 117 I think. The sensor I was looking at is actually a sensor for the efi and has nothing to do with the gage. It appears there is a standard sender on that engine somewhere. I'll just have to poke around a bit more this weekend. I can figure out the regular grounding sender/gage setup.

After finding the two wire sensor, I thought I was licked.

The boat is annoying - the hatch does raise nearly as much as it should. But, the owner is a good guy and I'll try to save him a few bucks.

Thanks for the manual! Any more on this engine?
