Ordered a pair of new bronze seacocks to replace mine. One is bad, but figured I'd do them both.
In my Chaparral 290 Sig, one goes through to the Generator, its a standard round thru-hull, bronze. The other is a scoop style thru-hull with a strainer and it feeds both engines raw water system. I suspect they use this style as it needs to pull water while the boat is moving through the water, even at high speeds, and a thru-hull that is perpendicular to the water flow probably wouldn't be as efficient and the scoop style may help push water through the system? Or am I missing something here?
Thanks!
