What power steering fluid goes in a mercruiser 496 mag?

The boat is steering very hard. I have a reservoir that’s near empty but unmarked. Guessing it’s for the power steering.
Will double check before adding.
Wondering if there is a marine grade power steering fluid? If so what do you use?

Look and see if it is connected to the power steering hoses.
Mine is an older 350 Chevy , and it calls for the old red Dextron.
The owner's manual should give you that info.
If is, you might want to check for a leak.

No owners manual.
Planning ot check for a leak as I've never had to add any before.
Looked below engine for leak but did not see any signs of fluid there. Dry as a bone.
I read where some use a hydraulic fluid of marine grade.
I'm having a GPS speedo installed on June 7th. Think I will ask the guys at the shop.
Will post the results.
