Lake Michigan Crossing to Beaver Island, '25

Thanks Denny, we are now at Munising/Pictured Rocks and had a wonderful day kayaking and diving some caves. Lake Superior is out of this world cool. You may be interested in my restoration thread--at least the recent updates...

Have you checked out rainman? They make nice units too, and for a good price.

Can you help me identify this engine?

Looks like a GM in-line four cylinder, aka the 3.0.

    Fridges and Grills

I think it may on the app. I remember it pulling like 5 or 6 amps when running. Really it doesn't use much power at all. I have it wired to a factory breaker.

Indeed. The cabin and cockpit leds have made a huge difference. I also did not mess with the gauge lights.

    NMEA 2000, Simrad, etc. (2004 Sunesta 252)

Yes, that sounds right. My "instructions" were non-specific because I forgot the exact way I figured it out and got everything to synchronize. Basically one has to play with it and peruse the menus for the proper settings.

    NMEA 2000, Simrad, etc. (2004 Sunesta 252)

I've been through this--it is a hidden setting on the chartplotter and/or smart craft gauge. You have to essentially select them to point at each other (recognize and share/receive data).

    NMEA 2000, Simrad, etc. (2004 Sunesta 252)

For anyone reading, this is all great info. I would add: to run most modern chartplotters, you'll need to set up a power connection as well as nmea2k gateway with its own power connection. For engines if merc, you can run smart craft gauges which interface with the engines and then can link the...

    Fridges and Grills

For a grill we use marinas. To cook on board we use our built-in alcohol stove. If you want a grill, get a magma.

    Fridges and Grills

I installed a 12 volt fridge on my 2550 SX. I run it all the time when boating. It only uses a few amps at a time and I keep the boat charged at night when staying on it with a 115v gfci outlet to the dock to run a battery charger (no shorepower). I have two AGM batteries with about 80AH...

Would you tow this boat with that truck?

Yikes. You need a 3/4 or full-ton for that thing!
