    Stern Anchor?

" I don't hop over the windshield like I did 30 yrs ago" I'm still able to get over the windshield but I'm liking it less each day. To avoid having to climb over the windshield, I usually anchor off the stern if nobody is around. But if it's crowded or a windy day, then off the bow.

    Stern Anchor?

When I first got my boat, it had two anchors in it. One fluke and one Navy. The fluke was on a larger scale [don't recall its weight] and was used for anchoring the boat. Rope was 100 feet long and no chain. It dug in in all situations. The Navy anchor is a 20 pounder. It too does not budge...

Hole in port side of 2024 chaparral 2024 SSI OB

Interesting. My coooler/ice chest drain hole is approximately 12 inches above the water line. I’m wondering if yours is deeper, dimension wise, than mine is. One advantage with yours is that it won’t leave a “drain stain” on the gelcoat. But having that drain hole at the water line, doesn’t...

    2001 235ssi

I have a 1987 Chap 235xlc. Works just fine. But you have to treat the Alpha One with care. It doesn't like being moved back and forth in an out of neutral at a fast rate several times [entering a tight slip].

My bilge is fairly high and aft. So no back flow unless I’m already under water. 💦 😁

Lost my instrument panel lighting while instruments still working

I did check the wiring at the battery which had a couple of fuses. I opened them, still good and put them back. I wasn't paying attention as to whether these caused the outage or not. The boat comes out of the water tomorrow and I'll see if I can simulate the problem from those fuses.

Hole in port side of 2024 chaparral 2024 SSI OB

I have an ice chest on my port side with a drain line that leads to a thru hull drain hole. Although it his well above the waterline and further forward than yours.

Lost my instrument panel lighting while instruments still working

Mission accomplished.....sort of. Here is a view of my spaghetti behind the instrument panel. Before poking around I disconnected the battery. Then I "climbed in" and start looking around. With Dennys comment about wires being pig tailed, they stuck out fairly quick. The bulb is powered by...

Lost my instrument panel lighting while instruments still working

Thanks Denny, I will start poking around today and maybe I’ll stumble across the problem. Truthfully though, I’m not a good mechanic with this stuff so I chickened out and spoke with the mechanic yesterday. He told me to bring it up Monday, so I’m in “the slot” at least. Have a good weekend.

Lost my instrument panel lighting while instruments still working

I assumed that this electrical problem was narrowed down to a single wire....somewhere. All other lights are working. Instruments are working but only the instrument lights are not. After returning to my slip, I did take a look behind the panel and poked around for loose nuts or wires. Nothing...

Lost my instrument panel lighting while instruments still working

I was looking forward to boating yesterday and catch a nice sunset. The wind was decreasing and therefore the waves were coming down too. Throw the anchor and enjoy. BUT.... The first problem was the trim. I've been operating my boat since 2008 with the trim gauge working and sometimes not. I...

    Did you know ....

I remember as a young teenage going through Space Mountain in Disney World [1970's]. As you're walking through the entry to the ride, you'd pass by futuristic displays. One display I remember was the family sitting in front of the tv with the remote clicking away. There were several others but I...

My dad’s last boat was a bayliner. Lots of water skiing behind it along with other excursions.

    Cuddy size

My boat is a 235XLC. I am 5' 6-1/2". The horizontal dimensions are pretty good for me. A reasonable amount of room to stretch out with room to spare. Vertical measurements are a different story. When laying down in the forward area of the cuddy [bow], you can't sit up. You kinda have to...

Sunesta Dock Light Bulb Retension Spring

That's the plan to replace all of them. But the nav light and anchor lights above the windshield are the old bulbs and just keep on going. When they finally fail, I'll replace them. And your right about usage of the battery. I actually have a separate/independent anchor light to keep battery...

Sunesta Dock Light Bulb Retension Spring

My stern light is the worst light onboard my boat. I'm lucky if I make it beyond a year before it fails again. The past two nights I've been out this season, I've had to use a small LED flashlight tied to the ski eye. It's actually brighter and higher up than the stern light. Less likely being...

    Safe Holiday Weekend To All

I've put two hours on so far this season. With the amount of rain and it being Memorial Weekend, I'm not venturing very far. Too much crazy traffic with a strong potential for getting "pulled over." I did treat my cover with 303 so with the recent downpour yesterday, it will be interesting to...
