    Vessel View Mobile mercury

Hi Hi, Doc, Those screw holes that you describe can be used for mounting the device away from the engine, such as near the helm. This would require as cable of suitable length and maybe a junction box, both of which can be ordered from Mercury Marine. It probably would be best to talk to the...

    Vessel View Mobile mercury

I've installed VesselView on my 2004 Sunesta 252, on my new iPhone and new iPad. Although it looks promising, it is still 'buggy' on both devices. For some reason, it won't show RPM, or fuel burn rate/consumption. I've talked to Jim at Mercury Marine, in Fond du Lac, and after considerable...

    Fuel Gauge Replacement

Hi, Bt, Would you suspect that could be the same for a 2004 Sunesta 252? If I understand it correctly, is the manufacturer of the Moeller sender also the manufacturer of the tank itself?

    Fuel Gauge Replacement

cjm, Thanks for the input! I've looked at several videos online, and there is quite a variety of sending units, with variation in the Ohm ranges. Would you happen to have an image of your old sending unit. What yr/model is your Chaparral?

    Fuel Gauge Replacement

Interesting... I've noticed that my fuel gauge is stuck on full (2004 Sunesta 252). I also have a Faria gauge. My shop advisor said they would replace the gauge AND the sender--for just under $500. Since I intend to use my Vessel View as my go-to indicator of fuel status, this is not a...

    Depth find transducer location

Hi, Wingnut, Great to hear your input. I've just installed VesselView in my 350Mag. I'm not sure if sea water temp can be viewed on my model, although it comes up as an option for viewing. Your thoughts???

    Bouncing tach

I just installed a VesselView, with help from Arnie, at Mercury Marine customer service. I haven't run it 'live', but it looks promising. It should be much more accurate than the 'analog' gauges that we've been accustomed to using. If it's half as good as I think it is, I would consider it one...

    Loose cover for bilge ventilation

Following up... I'm not sure these parts will be stamped anymore. The access to the inside of the deck where these are attached is visible, but not accessible. Unless, like so many other areas under the deck, you have the size and flexibility of the average Rhesus Monkey! :w00t2:

    Loose cover for bilge ventilation

I think I understand how you approached it; I'm thinking that I'll have to do this in similar fashion. I believe I can cover the screw heads with gelcoat, provided I get just the right amount of depth in the countersink holes. I'm not certain how this will 'bond' to what I believe is a PVC...

    Loose cover for bilge ventilation

Hi, Denny, This came from the Parts Guide. It's that tapering, horizontal piece. It's open on the bottom, for ventilation. I talked to a rep at the company that made these parts, and he told me that there is a threaded nylon 'bolt' that protrudes, passes through the deck, which is secured by a...

    Loose cover for bilge ventilation

Hello, all, I have a loose cover on the port side deck, which I believe is called a 'PORT VENT', Part# 069A, if I'm reading the parts guide correctly. It looks like one of the fasteners broke. Is this something that can be repaired, or should it just be replaced entirely? Thanks in advance, Dan

Hmmm...I didn't realized there were different versions, either. I bought one of the above; which one, I don't know. Mine looks like a good match, though I haven't finished the polishing phase yet...

    Engine compartment insulation

Hi, Denny, Thanks for your input! Several years ago, I worked with a few products (I don't recall the names) to do some acoustic insulation for an American General H1 (Hummer) that I once owned. This made a significant difference, as the truck was pretty loud compared to most pickup trucks...

Wingnut, I have a Merc 350 Mag Bravo 3 (I haven't succeeded in getting that into my profile yet ;-/). It looks like I have my diagnostic work cut out for me! I have manuals for the engine and the outdrive, if you think I could benefit from them. -You said:"The trim indicator...sender is...
