Sad to think I'll no longer be a Chap owner, but life takes us in different directions sometimes!

    The Time Has Come...

Well guys, all good things must come to an end and it is officially time for us to sell Soul Rebel. We are simply at a point in life where we do not have the time or resources to accommodate such type of boating--as such, we have purchased a live aboard sailboat and will eb focusing our efforts...

Lake Michigan Crossing to Beaver Island, '25

I had radar on my last 38' sailboat but went broke outfitting it because I went for every gadget (full electronics suite, autopilot, etc.) before getting the basics down pat LOL. E.g.: replaced all the rigging and broke a chainplate on our first passage from Punta Gorda to Marathon. This time I...

It is a Hunter Legend 37.5 that I picked up for--I kid you not--$1,000. The boat needs some work, but is actually in great condition overall; it was an estate sale item that never really hit the public market. It has a ~40HP Yanmar so super reliable, simple, and efficient. It already has solar...

    My Girl, Show & Tell

I am sad to hear this Denny but I am sure it is bittersweet. Do you have any parting pictures to share? It feels like we are all here the remnants of the bygone Chap forum and that whole era of boating and boat ownership. Truthfully, I think many normal folks are phasing out of boating and boat...

Yes--a desalination plant. Very common on cruising sailboats and some trawlers.

Sheesh! I'm out here cruising upwards of 35 mph all day (as sea state allows). I am sure I am into my secondaries from ~3,000 RPM on. Yesterday we basically ran 40-41 mph the whole time. With my big block, that's typically in the 3200-3750 RPM range. My boat doesn't feel like it "wakes up"...

Very nice indeed! My big block sure drinks gas too.

Very cool SST. How's the 235 XLC?

Lake Michigan Crossing to Beaver Island, '25

Hey, who you callin' small?! ;) With a VHF (x2), GPS (x2), trim tabs, and some other basic safety gear (manual bilge pump, etc.), I would take this boat many places along the coast of the Chesapeake, East Coast, Great Lakes, and Florida. She really is great for short-term (4-5 day)...

Lake Michigan Crossing to Beaver Island, '25

Great story. I also can't believe your boat has over 2,000 hours!--mine only has ~845. As my flat tappets and pushrods were identical (and checked by the machine shop so I didn't know what went where anyway), I did not bother with such a task as replacing everything as it was exactly. That was...

Thanks Denny, we are now at Munising/Pictured Rocks and had a wonderful day kayaking and diving some caves. Lake Superior is out of this world cool. You may be interested in my restoration thread--at least the recent updates...

Have you checked out rainman? They make nice units too, and for a good price.

Can you help me identify this engine?

Looks like a GM in-line four cylinder, aka the 3.0.

    Fridges and Grills

I think it may on the app. I remember it pulling like 5 or 6 amps when running. Really it doesn't use much power at all. I have it wired to a factory breaker.
