Denny Like I said my only frame of reference was my old sea ray and it was rock solid in depth finding except in heavy chop or over 40mph. I can’t understand the purpose of a depth gauge that only works at idle speed - seems useless to me

Doc, Just to clarify, my old Sea Ray would occasionally not provide a depth due to heavy chop, or super high speed, etc. However, with my Chaparral, it will NEVER provide a depth, except at idle speeds. Is this normal?

I have a 2019 Chaparral 277ssx with the garmin gps dash As soon as I get on plane, the depth just flashes the same reading. Is this normal? I’m coming from a 16yr old sea ray and never had this issue, it accurately provided depth at any speed Thanks from the newbie
