Had a problem yesterday. My Throttle, a Quicksilver 3000 Classic, won't shift out of neutral to forward or reverse. I pulled of panel, and cables are working. Seems that the advance button isn't re-engaging. Anyone have that type of problems or have a suggestion? Not sure if I need to replace the whole Throttle?

I had a 89 Force 230 Baja with the Quicksilver Throttle. Similar issue and I had to replace the whole throttle. It's been over 20 years ago so my memory of the details is rather fuzzy but your situation sounds very similar. Good luck.

I am presently going through the same issue with my 1985. All cables are perfect, there is what is called a momentary switch, that when you shift from N to F to R and so on, it kills the engine for a split second to release the pressure. That was my issue. Start there.

How does it shift if the engine is not running?

As I've stated here many times, my Alpha One and the shifter do not like rapid shifting between Forward, Neutral and Reverse. With the new slip that I had this season, it caused me to shift quickly to keep control of the boat. It didn't take long for the shifter to start sliding around and not clunking into gear. Since then, I've changed to a new slip that requires much less shifting and so far, it's holding together. But, I feel that I'm very close to losing Reverse. I'm nursing this along as much as possible because if I have to take it to the mechanic, I'll be out of the water for several weeks.

I don't know if your shifter is nearly the same as mine but many times, as i'm moving the shifter, I have to pull the shifter up as I'm moving the shifter forward or reverse or back into neutral. For some reason or another, lifting it a little bit seems to help.
