220 SSI automatic bilge switch

I was testing the automatic bilge switch in like every other switch it takes a little bit of Up with pressure to get the switch to click and run the bilge pump and when you let off the switch it shuts off this switch in this boat you have to actually put downward pressure on a switch to get it to click to turn off the bilge pump is this normal

No, it should work freely, with no pressure needed either way. Time for a new switch.
I've had good luck with Rule pumps.
