Trying to determine the number of blue wing nut water drainage ports my engine has for winterization.
It is a year 2000 MercCruiser 5.0 EFI, see pic below. One of the blue wing nuts is just left of the big wheel
that spins the serpentine belt. I am getting conflicting numbers from various sources. Thanks.

Do you have an owners manual? The info may be in it. A chap dealer service manager should have that info.

Yes I do, but the section on engines is not specific to one model, which is frustrating. Says it may have x or y number of drainage ports. I don't want to list the number I have found, don't want to influence any answers. I called a marine , and they said I have x ports, but I have found x + 1 ports. Person I spoke to was a newbie so I'll give him some slack.

I found this on the net. Hope it helps.
A 2000 Mercruiser 5.0 EFI typically has five blue drain plugs used for winterizing the engine. These are located on the engine block (two on each side) and one on the front of the engine near the fuel filter. It's highly recommended to remove them during winterization to ensure the engine block is completely drained of water.
