Another medical delay in launching this season

Update: Feeling better, I finally decided to bring the boat home and start working on it. I sat and looked at the boat not wanting to crawl around while applying the bottom treatment but I forced myself to get going. I decided not to lift the boat to get at the areas of the bunks. Too much work and I wanted to reduce climbing around. But what made the difference this time is that the instructions said to use a damp sponge to apply. What a difference that made. Still had to climb around but it helped speed things up. That took a day and a half to complete.

The other "thing" is the continuous fight with the gelcoat. When I pulled it out of storage I was amazed at how much in faded during storage. So this time I took wet sandpaper to the gelcoat, then a light compounding and then wax. It's still not perfect but better than it was.

I took the swim platform off so I could do redo the screws into the transom to make sure they are waterproofed. Plus I put a coating of teak oil on the platform and it's taking a long time to dry. This could delay me. I haven't checked this morning.

Changed two nav bulbs to LED. The old incandescent bulbs were driving me nuts, especially the stern light.

Hopefully, by this weekend, I'll have it in. But then there is the weather.

Good job. Sounds like you might beat me for first time in this season. Ohio River is a mess from all the rain. Very trashy and muddy. Hoping to put in for first time June 28th.

I always wondered how you operated on the Ohio River. The Niagara River is pretty short compared to the Ohio but it also likes to transfer a lot of junk from Lake Erie. After significant storms and run off, I'll generally stay in the slip as there are several feeder creeks and rivers that like to deposit trees and stumps. Have you ever boated to Evansville to see the LST 325? I drove down there many years ago and took the tour.

Nope, I've never boated that far down the Ohio. I'm near Marietta which is about half way down the east side of Ohio. I just checked with Google maps, Evansville is 418 miles from Marietta. A 6.5 hour drive by car. And that does not follow the river. Guessing it would be over 500 miles by river and a 3 or 4 day trip with a whole lot of damns to lock through.

A couple different Navy ships have come up river to our Marietta Sternwheeler Festival. So cool to see the GIANT ships cruising up the river.
