I learned more about this incident. According to reports, it was a rented, electric boat. The driver ignored not one, but two signs concerning distance to the head of the dam. Once too close, the current over powered the little boat and they were pulled nearly over the edge. ??‍♂️

Figured it out. A new windlass is probably in order as Horizon has been phased out by Lewmar.

Horizon 900 Windlass deploys without issue. When retrieving, it moves very slow then stops, pulling in maybe 4”-6” of chain. Did some searching on the web and concluded that the solenoid is probably cooked. Replaced solenoid, still having the same issue. No change when using the foot pedals on...
