Bent Skeg?

Yea I hit something, I’m guessing a rock but question is how do I know what drive unit I have and how are the replacement weld on units they offer. I’m fairly sure I can straighten it but unsure if it will just crack and snap off. Forgot to snap a picture of it so I can post it for you guys to see. It’s not bent that bad and there was a small piece missing off the tip. I also see they make a cover like piece that slides right over the original piece but I don’t like the idea of drilling holes in it to mount it.
Looking for some experience who’s delt with this type of repair. thanks

I had a little piece on the bottom of mine broke off. thought of covering it but like you, I preferred not to drill into it.
So I ran with it broken. Negligible impact. No difference. So I left it that way for 500+ hours of running. No prob.

I believe the main purpose of the skag is to protect the prop. It took a lot of force to bend it, it will take a lot of force to bend it back.
We can not see how far it is bent, so it is your call as to fix it or live with it.
