Installing Simrad NSX/SmartCraft and transducer; 2004 Sunesta 252

I've ordered the gateway from Fox Marine, which will allow me to get all the engine data that I need. I'm also looking into a trim sensor with Yacht D.com, utilizing the existing wires. We'll see...
I have a Lowrance Fluid Level Sensor, Fuel Pack-0, that I want to use for replacing my analog fuel gauge, connecting straight to the N2K backbone, and reading from my Simrad NSX 3009.
Is it possible to disconnect the wires that come from the tank at the existing gauge, and simply connect this fluid level sensor wires to those wires, in order to avoid having to run wires from the sensor all the way to the tank?

I down loaded the manual on the Lowrance Fluid Level Sensor. Most likely, I would say yes. But I would do a temp install to see if it would work.

"Compatible with most sending units that are calibrated between 33 and 240 ohm." Just make sure your sending unit will work within that range.

I would have no way of knowing if my sending unit is "calibrated between 33 and 240 ohm", nor do I know the manufacturer of it. Given that it was recently replaced by a local dealer, I'll just call them and hopefully get some info.
I was hoping I could just connect the wires on the sensor to the wires at the helm...

Sure you do! Use an ohms meter and see what you are reading. Disconnect one sending wire first just in case the guage adds any resistances.
