Sad to see. We used to have the Becky Thatcher here in Marietta. It was a fine dinning restaurant. Very nice. Ritzy for sure.

Here are pics of it from this morning in Pittsburgh:

I still have not heard what caused her to sink. Old boats can start taking on water for so many different reasons that it seems impossible to guess when might have happened. Hopefully they will publish a report on the cause once they get her raised and out of the water.
The new owner bought her late last summer and had her moved to Pittsburgh last October. Sad to see for sure. :(

One of the that reports I read was that a barge may have hit it, they wouldn't know until they could look at the hull.

The owner only had liability insurance, so he is SOL big time.

Very sad, a lot of memories went down with her. Is there any history about her?

Wow! Quite a history of surviving a lot of bad luck, all the way to the very end. She sure was a pretty lady!

When I started reading this post this morning, I didn't look at the date of the original post. I had just finished reading the flood warning of the Allegheny River between Emlenton, Pa and Foxburg, Pa. So when I looked at the sinking boat, I thought......where's the ice flow? Even if there isn't a jam I thought there would be "something" floating around. Then I took notice of the date. That looked like a nice place to visit. Sad to see heritage get damaged or destroyed.

Last year I rode my bike along the Allegheny River on the former railroad south of Franklin, Pa to the Kennerdell tunnel [I didn't ride in the tunnel due to lack of proper lighting]. I rode through several neighborhoods along the river and wondered how much of a jam would wipe these homes away. This past fall I took a different route home and went to the bottom of Kennerdell overlook and crossed over the Allegheny River. My first thought was of flooding and "What if." https://maps.app.goo.gl/Y4PuA5dfTEqL5voBA
When coming down the steep hill and then crossing the river.....there is no room for error. When they tell you to evacuate....do it!
